Contact form or email are the preferred options. It is important to write the precise name of the drug you take, including dosage. Mobile phone, text message or WhatsApp are also possibilities.
  • 8. What is 24-hour ECG monitoring?
A Holter monitor is a small, battery-powered medical device that measures your heart’s activity, such as rate and rhythm. Several leads, or wires, are attached to the monitor. The leads connect to electrodes that are placed on the skin of your chest with a glue-like gel. The metal electrodes conduct your heart’s activity through the wires and into the Holter monitor, where it’s recorded. In the morning a nurse places the electrodes on your skin, you wear the Holter monitor for 24 hours and go about your normal daily routine. The next morning the nurse disconnects the leads. Preferably, avoid showering or bathing during this period of measurement. We advise patients to avoid contact sports.
  • 9. What is Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring?
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) is when your blood pressure is measured during your normal daily life. It is measured for up to 24 hours. In the morning, a small digital blood pressure monitor is attached to a belt around your waist and connected to a cuff around your upper arm. By measuring your blood pressure at regular intervals, for up to 24 hours, your doctor is able to get a clear idea of how your blood pressure changes throughout the day. Preferably avoid showering or bathing during this period of measurement. If you decide to take a bath or shower, you will need to take off the monitor and cuff as they are not waterproof and you must not get them wet. We advise patients to avoid contact sports.
  • 10. How do I prepare for an exercise electrocardiogram?
An exercise ECG is done to assess the heart's response to stress or exercise. In this test, the ECG is recorded while you are exercising on a stationary bike. An ECG tracing will be taken at certain points throughout the test to compare the effects of increasing stress on the heart. Periodically, you will pedal faster against increased resistance. In either case, you will exercise until reaching a target heart rate (determined by the healthcare provider based on age and physical status) or until you are unable to continue due to tiredness, shortness of breath, chest pain, or other symptoms. The examination takes approximately 30 minutes. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a towel.
